Should I go for the Thatcher look?

I came across this knitted three piece suit in a little Woman's Weekly supplement promoting the joys of bri-nylon yarn. 

It does feature a great fitted cardigan and a dress that would not look out of place on Mad Men - but I love the idea of a full suit in twisted stocking stitch though not the bri-nylon.
